Malawi Government says it is set to construct 10, 000 houses for security institutions in the country.
Minister of Finance and Economical Planning, Joseph Mwanamvekha was speaking in Parliament Tuesday during question time.
He said, the line ministry, which is the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, had put out adverts in the papers asking tenders and in no time the construction works will commence.
“I am told there is a team that is doing evaluation in order to get contractors for us to start building of houses for security officers,” said the Minister.
The houses are meant for the Malawi Defence Forces (MDF), Malawi Police Service (MPS), Prison Services and the Department of Immigration.
