Bogus Pharmacist Arrested in Nkhata Bay

By Luzily Chiponde

Police in Nkhata Bay have arrested a 50 year old man for allegedly impersonating a pharmacist at Nkhata Bay District Hospital.

Nkhata Bay Police publicist, Kondwani James on Friday said Godfrey Mhango of Chilerawana Village, TA Malengamzoma, Nkhata Bay, solicited money from guardians at the hospital promising to provide medication for their patients.

“We were notified by one of his recent victims, whose child was admitted to the hospital, that on February 9, 2020, the trickster demanded K35,000 to help the desperate mother with proper medication in return,” James said.

He said the victim managed to give Mhango K12000 out of the demanded amount and immediately after receiving the cash the suspect vanished.

“On February 12, the victim spotted the suspect with other clients at the hospital. This is when the victim immediately reported the case to the police that led to the arrest of Mhango.

The suspect Mhango will appear before court soon to answer to the charge of impersonation.
