The governing Mighty Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) supporters on Monday organized a peaceful march doubled as ‘March for the Restoration of Democratic Justice’ in Blantyre.
According to petition presented to the Blantyre City Council (BCC), DPP has asked the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda to investigate the five Constitutional Court Judges who nullified the 2019 presidential elections.
DPP claims that one of the Judges is closely related to UTM President and first petitioner, Dr. Saulos Chilima.
The DPP’s Executive Member, Henry Mussa claims the Court ruling, that nullified the presidential election results, was partisan with such connections.
He said they have evidence that Justice Dingiswayo Madise has family connections with Chilima and he was supposed to rescue himself from the case for the interest of “genuine” justice.
The party’s Regional Governor for the South, Charles Mchacha, Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey and Executive member, Brown Mpinganjira were part of the group that took part in the peaceful march.
