His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has announced that Malawi has 3 confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Malawi leader made the announcement Thursday evening in his address to the nation on a state broadcaster.
According to the president,the three are Lilongwe based and from the same family. Mutharika says the three are a Malawian of Asian origin who travelled to India, her relative and their house maid.
The three cases are being managed by health personnel.
President Mutharika has since asked Malawians not to panic saying if all citizens can join hands,the disease will be defeated.
The President advises Malawians to adhere to preventive measures as the disease is preventable.
He has not announced any more measures of lockdown but says he will be addressing the nation again in due course to announce further measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
