World Vision zonal manager for the north, Immaculate Botomani disclosed this Thursday at Mzimba North District Health Office (DHO) where the organization donated 10,945 gloves, 70kgs of powdered soap and eight buckets of chlorine weighing 25kg each.

Further, the organization provided 70 assorted bar soaps and nine tap water buckets to the office and all the items were valued at K1.5million.

Botomani said the donation targeted Mapale and Mpherembe Health Centers in Mzimba South and that in total the organization would donate materials worth K24 million in the northern region.

“Similar donation will extend to other health centres in the names of Kameme in Chitipa, Mlare in Karonga, Maula and Chilambwe in Nkhata Bay and Endindeni in Mzimba South.

“It is my sincere hope that the donation will secure safety of health workers and further prevent transmission of the virus to most vulnerable children and communities who access health services in these health centres,” she said.

She said World Vision remains committed to supporting government in responding to the coronavirus pandemic.

Director of health and social services for Mzimba North, Dr. Naomi Mulwafu thanked World Vision for the donation, saying it will step up efforts the office is putting in place to prevent spread of coronavirus.
