Lilongwe Liquor Stores Ordered to Close

The Lilongwe City Council (LCC) has issued a temporary ban on all bottle Stores, pubs, night clubs and public gathering as a measure of preventing the spread of Covid-19.

The Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O), John Chome announced the ban through a press statement dated 8 April 2020. He said the ban was with immediate effect.

Chome appealed to owners and operators of such businesses to adhere to the ban or face the law.

“The council will work with law enforcers to ensure that the ban is respected,” said Chomwe in a statement.

The Council has also effected a ban on Birthday Parties, wedding receptions, Bridal showers and send offs.

Meanwhile, the country has registered eight cases of covid-19, including one death thus according to Special Cabinet Committee on Covid-19.
