The Police in Kasungu district have arrested opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and UTM Party thugs for looting shops during anti-lockdown protests on Friday.
Kasungu Police Public Relations Officer, Harry Namwaza confirmed the arrest in an interview with a local media.
He said the thugs 21 in number will answer charges of theft, malicious damage and inciting violence.
“We have arrested 21 people in connection to the looting and will appear in court once we finish our investigations,” confirmed Namwaza
The anti-lockdown violent protests were sponsored by Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) with funding from Lazarus Chakwera and Saulos Chilima.
