Lilongwe, May 3, Mana: A 20-year-old lady from Mzuzu has been confirmed COVID-19 positive at Mzuzu Central Hospital, Minister of Health and Population Jappie Mhango has disclosed Sunday in Lilongwe.
“The lady is a contact of the first COVID-19 case from Mzuzu and she has no history of travel outside Malawi. She has been put on self-quarantine and she is currently asymptomatic.
“Health workers are tracing all the contacts of this person so that they can also be isolated, followed up and tested for the virus,” he said.
Mhango pointed out that the country, has now registered a total of 39 confirmed Coronavirus cases since the first case was reported.
He added that of these cases, nine have successfully recovered and are well, three lost their lives and 27 are still under management by the Health system. The Minister said the remaining 27 cases are all clinically stable in terms of location.
The 39 cases are distributed as follows: 23 cases, including two deaths in Lilongwe, nine cases including one death Blantyre, three cases in Mzuzu, while Zomba, Karonga, Nkhotakota, and Chikwawa registered one case each district.
Meanwhile, the Minister has appealed for continued observation of prevention guidelines such as regular hand washing, social distancing, avoid handshakes, observe self-quarantine rules, and avoid overcrowded places.
If the woman has no history of travelling and she was asymptotic how and why was she tested for coronavirus?
It seems to me that the DPP government is taking pleasure in falsifying the number of those testing positive for several reasons…
First to scare Malawians especially in the opposition areas not to come out to vote in July.
Secondly, to intros lockdown in order to delay or stop the July elections.
Thirdly, to use it as a tool to persuade donors to give them money, obviously for self enrichment, coronagate.
