The DPP-UDF alliance running mate Right Honourable Atupele Muluzi has hailed President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for picking him as his running mate for the fresh presidential election.
Speaking at Thondwe trading centre in Zomba during his Eastern region whistle stop tour, Muluzi said the DPP-UDF alliance is “the only coalition that can be trusted because it’s built on the common good for all Malawians.”
The Alliance will contest in the July 2 fresh presidential election after the May 21, 2019 poll was nullified by the Constitutional Court and the verdict also upheld by the Supreme Court of Appeal, citing irregularities in the conduct of the poll by MEC.
On Thursday, Mutharika unveiled the young Muluzi as his running mate, saying the Energy Minister who also once served in various portfolios before the poll last year, was “someone who understands that leadership comes with a number of responsibilities and is humble.”
He said Muluzi was determined to support his mission to re-build the country.
