The opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) runningmate for the forth-coming presidential elections Saulos Chilima has come under fire for asking Malawians to ignore public health advice on Covid-19 prevention.
Speaking on Sunday during a political rally in Lilongwe Chilima, who is also UTM Party leader, said Malawians should stop maintaining social distance and hug each other when they meet.
“…please hug each other; you are brothers and sisters don’t be afraid of Covid-19,” said Chilima
Reacting to the Chilima’s remarks a facebook user Lameck Moyo said : “Forgive him, l hope before being on stage he had some weed on top of that its was sunny today so it was flowing into the medulla.”
Another user Bonwell Phiri posted: “Why are you surprised? Same person told Malawians to refuse Lockdown. He (Chilima) doesn’t care about people.”
Meanwhile, the country has a total number of 70 confirmed cases of Covid-19 including three deaths.
