Reserve Bank Injects MK 6 Billion to Convid-19

The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has contributed over MK6 billion towards Malawi’s COVID-19 response.

Speaking on Monday after presenting the cheque , a member of the Bank’s Board, Pius Mulipa, said the donation is in response to Government’s call for stakeholders to help soften the negative impact the outbreak has inflicted on the country’s economy.

Co – Chairperson for the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr John Phuka has commended the central bank for the gesture saying it is a significant contribution to Malawi’s fight against the raging global health pandemic.

Malawi through the Ministry of Health launched a MWK150 Billion COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan in April this year with the aim of fighting the spread of Coronavirus.

The Country has so far 70 confirmed cases of Covid-19, including three deaths thus according to Minister of Health Jappie Mhango.
