Reports are high that Atupele Muluzi is on verge of acquiring a deal with Malawi Congress Party (MCP) which will take him to be Cabinet Minister with three more UDF members from the Eastern region.
On Friday, Atupele Muluzi joined President Chakwera in paying their last respects to former vice President, late Dr Justin Malewezi in Lilongwe.
“Currently discussions are at an advanced stage between these two leaders”, said the source familiar with these discussions.
Of late the UDF President has been singing songs of praises for President Chakwera and his cabinet on many issues a strange trend which opposition parties don’t practice in Malawi.
He even had an exclusive interview program with ZBS some weeks ago to just praise Chakwera for his action on COVID-19 funds plunder.
Atupele Muluzi has been has worked PP government, DPP government and now in MCP government.
Some pundits are alleging that President Chakwera is bringing on board Atupele for 2025 polls as MCP desperately needs votes from the Eastern region as a top up for their Central region hub votes.
Both MCP and UDF have feigned the reports when asked by this publication.
