Malawi former President Peter Mutharika has challenged never to grant any interview to the Anti-Corruption Bureau-ACB over the alleged abuse of his Tax Payer Identification Number-TPIN when he was in power.
He claims the Bureau has not provided any explanation on the offence he committed; saying he already denied any involvement when Fiscal Police questioned him in August 2020.
In a statement, Mutharika says if the ACB proceeds with its questions, he will exercise his right to remain silent.
The Democratic Progressive Party leader further suggests that all living former Presidents and Vice Presidents should also be taken to task on how their TPIN’s were used.
Mutharika has for the first time lauded the Courts for throwing out the seizure application that ACB wanted to get to freeze again his bank accounts.
