The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) expects President Lazarus Chakwera to provide a clear direction on how his government intends to address the high cost of living in Malawi.
Chakwera is this morning expected to hold a media briefing on his recent trips to Kenya, United Arab Emirates and Scotland.
CCJP National Coordinator, Boniface Chibwana, told Rainbow TV that Malawians are going through terrible economic hardships as evidenced by continued rise in prices of essential goods such as fuel, cooking oil and water tariffs.
Social commentator, Sherrif Kaisi agrees with Chibwana; adding the Malawi leader should also provide security assurance to citizens following recent kidnappings.
While Chakwera was away, some frustrated citizens in Blantyre and Lilongwe took to the streets demanding answers on the high cost of living.
