Blantyre District Health Office (DHO) has expressed satisfaction with the mosquito nets distribution campaign which is currently underway in the district.
Chrissy Banda, the Spokesperson for Blantyre DHO, expressed the satisfaction at Lunzu Primary School after touring mosquito nets distribution sites in the district.
“So far so good, as Blantyre District Health Office we are very satisfied with how the campaign is going on,” said Banda
According to Banda, the campaign will help to fight against Malaria in the district, which commonly affects children below the age of five.
One of the Mosquito Nets recipients from Lunzu in Blantyre, Chipiliro Patisiyo said the nets will help to protect her family from mosquitos which transmit Malaria.
On his part, Group Village Headman Mpira of Senior Chief Kapeni in the district warned his subjects against using the nets on other purposes that are not related to prevention of Malaria.
Over 287,632 treated mosquito nets are expected to be distributed in Blantyre district and about 9 Million nets will be distributed nationwide.
Speaking during the launch of mosquito nets distribution campaign in Salima district recently, Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda said Malaria remains a public health threat.
Mosquito nets distribution campaign is being funded by Global fund, Gavi and United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF).
