Blantyre Mana: Nacala Logistics Company has announced the resumption of its passenger train operations between Limbe and Balaka-Nayuchi following the maintenance of Mauzi Bridge.
Communications Specialist at Nacala Logistics Malawi, formerly Central East Africa Railways (CEAR), Wezi Grace Kalua said all is set for the passengers and goods train services.
“We had a wash away on one of our bridges between Limbe and Balaka because of Cyclone Ana that is why we suspended our operations on that section,” Kalua said.
He added that passengers should expect normal services to run passenger and cargo train services, saying: “In the meantime we are only moving goods to assess the situation.”
One of the passengers, Santamaria Jabes said the resumption of passenger and cargo train services will make travelling very easy.
“It is good news to us passengers since we are used to railway transport which is relatively cheap and affordable to most people who cannot afford bus services,” Jabes said.
Meanwhile, Nacala Logistics has said the services will resume on July 2, on the Limbe – Balaka and Balaka-Nayuchi route.
