UTM, a major partner in the Tonse Alliance administration, has expressed sadness over President Lazarus Chakwera’s decision to suspend Vice President Saulos Chilima from all delegated duties.
In a statement made available to the publications, UTM’s Publicity Secretary Frank Mwenifumbo, said the party rallies behind constitutionally elected vice president Dr. Chilima until justice takes its course.
“We continue to give our unwavering support and following to our president Dr. Saulos Chilima, who led us through trials and tribulations before and during campaign period that ushered in this present government,” reads the statement in part
The decision to suspend Chilima by President Chakwera follows a ‘substandard’ report by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) which alleged Chilima and other officials benefited from corrupt practices from a business magnet Zuneth Sattar.
Inspector General of Police Dr. George Kainja, State House Chief of Staff, Prince Kapondamgaga, Chairperson of Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA), Counsel John Suzi Banda have also been relieved of their duties following the report.
