In a move that drastically propelled early childhood development (ECD) advocacy by Miss Malawi 2022 Finalists, Malawi’s First Lady Madame Monica Chakwera today hosted the twelve finalists at the Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
Madame Chakwera appreciated the good works the contestants are doing towards early childhood development and encouraged them all to continue.
Speaking on behalf of the finalists, 21 year old Grace Charles Mazinga, expressed the grouping’s commendation of the first lady for the good works she is doing in promoting holistic development of a village girl and street child.
“We commend you for economic empowerment of mothers, ending violence against women and children, among many others,” Grace said.
“Your Excellency, the Miss Malawi 2022 participants humbly request you to support and grace our grand finale event as the guest of honor on 3rd December 2022 at the BICC. This is an important day to the Malawi nation, as it will be the day that the Miss Malawi 2022-23 will be crowned. The Miss Malawi 2022-23 will work with your good office to advocate for ECD programs in Malawi,” continued Grace Mazinga through her speech.
Other main speakers during the event were finalists Hlezipe Jade Chikhwaza and Jescar Mponda, who recited poems around the promotion of child development.
The finalists were also accompanied by Minister of Labor, Hon. Vera Kamtukule who said that all the finalists are all winners at this point in their own rights. She said she expects all finalists to represent and carry themselves like the queens that they are.
In her remarks, the Minister of Gender, Hon. Patricia Kaliati encouraged the finalists not to be disheartened but continue on the noble path of inspiring the nation.
The twelve Miss Malawi 2022 finalists are set to visit Salima district from the 27th of November for a bootcamp at Kambiri Beach resort, as days inch closer to a final beauty showdown at BICC on the 3rd of December this year.
