Lilongwe February 20 Mana: Malawian Professional Golfer, Paul Chidale hopes to bounce back from his quiet outing during the Pros Golf Tour in Kenya slated for March 2023.
Speaking after his arrival from Kenya, Chidale highlighted the nature of tournament while also expressing disappointment for not advancing to the tournament in March.
“I went to play four tournaments in the Safari tour, I made two and missed two cuts, unfortunately I was not able to qualify for the Magical open,” he said.
Chidale said it is always a pleasure to acquire knowledge from his colleagues while setting his eyes on the next outing in Zimbabwe.
“I met a lot of golfers in Kenya these are moments I learn different things from the best players around the world. I will now try to focus on my next event which is the max open in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe,” he explained.
Blantyre sports club golf Captain Hope Chirwa hailed Paul Chidale for always representing Malawi in international golf and encouraged him to do even better in tournaments to come.
“I would like to congratulate him, he makes us proud. I believe we could have done better if we invested more into golf. Being on position 24 of 42 is an achievement but not a great one also bearing in mind that he did not play three competitions because of finances,” he said.
Chirwa further said professional golfers require the nation’s support if they are to achieve more and urged Chidale to remain focused ahead of his next international event.
“The private sector and Government need to provide resources for junior golfers so that we build a great team when they mature.
“In preparations, Chidale needs a positive mindset as well as to manage his life style which includes diet to be high on fibre and controlled water intake, practice and rest. The more one prepares the greater the self-confidence,” he added.
At Limuru Country club Chidale had 25.3 points and 16.3 at Karen club, while the highest scores for the tournament were at 50 and in this case Chidale was average since he didn’t play all rounds.
In March 2022 Chidale made his debut appearance in the mega European tour dubbed Magical Kenya Open which he qualified for after he finished at position five during the Safari open held in February where he accumulated 106 points.
Chidale left Malawi on 15 January and returned on the Thursday 16th February.
