Karonga, May 27: Baka Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Karonga has appealed to well-wishers to support the school’s hall construction project which stalled at the foundation level since 2019 due to financial constraints.
According to chairperson for Baka CDSS Parents Teachers Association (PTA), Lloyd Mwakayira, the construction budget was estimated at K98 million and that the foundation works have consumed K8 million.
Speaking in an interview Friday, Mwakayira said the project has stalled due to inadequate funding.
He said the delay in completing the project forces the school to spend on booking a hall for its learners during examinations.
Head Teacher for Baka CDSS, Amin Pwele, also expressed concern over the delays saying renting a church hall for examinations inconveniences learners as they have to cover a distance of almost a kilometre away from the school.
Member of Parliament (MP) for Karonga North-West, Felix Katwafu, also appealed to well-wishers and organizations for support to complete the project.
