ANOTHER AIP SCAM: Malawi hires bogus Romania firm to supply fertilizer… Gwengwe, Kawale implicated

KAWALE: convinced the president and cabinet to authorize minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe

The Ministry of Agriculture has entered into a contract with a company called East Bridge from Romania to supply 600 thousand metric tons of fertilizer for the next Affordable Inputs Program in a commodity exchange arrangement that has no precedence in Malawi.

Minister of Agriculture Sam Kawale has personally been heralding the arrangement in the deal which documents show was initiated by the Romanian company.

The minister convinced the president and cabinet to authorize minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe to issue what is called a letter of sovereign guarantee which effectively means that tax funds would be involved where the ministry of agriculture fails to pay East Bridge unspecified commodities in exchange for the AIP fertilizers.

East Bridge Estate is a young and dynamic company specializing in importing medical equipment, founded in 2018, based in Bucharest, Romania.
