Mchinji DHO receives crucial medical supplies from Our Aim Foundation

In order to ensure easy access to healthcare for vulnerable and neglected communities, a U.S based charitable organisation Our AIM Foundation has donated assorted medical supplies to Mchinji District Hospital worth $50,000 equivalent to MK50 million.

The Foundation has shipped essential medications to Malawi worth $500,000, equivalent to K500 million. Early May, some of these supplies were also donated to LMJ Medical Services, which runs a free-enterprise hospital owned by Asians of Malawian origin.

Speaking during the donation ceremony which was held at the foundation’s Tongozala Holistic Community Center, Dr. Lonjezo Maluwa for Tongozala Health Center explained the significance of healthcare support to the underprivileged in order to have access to essential drugs and other supplies.

“We are delighted to donate and receive these medical supplies here at Tongozala so that people get access to healthcare at no costs.” explained Maluwa.

He further thanked Our Aim Foundation USA together with its partners, Bread and Water for Africa and MAP International for the support, and encouraged other stakeholders to emulate the example.

The Foundation is further planning to donate medications to Ministry of Health, Malawi and other community hospitals in need.

In 2019, the Our Aim Foundation set up the Tongozala Holistic Community Center which comprise of free services such daily Clinic, Education activities, Women & Youth Empowerment, Water & Sanitation and Hunger Prevention.

On her remarks, Acting District Health and Social Services-DHSS Officer for Mchinji District Hospital Dr. Stellia Mulepo appreciated the support and assistance that Our Aim Foundation rendered, as it is easing the burden the hospital could bear.

“We would like to thank Our Aim Foundation on thinking about this important donation to our hospital as one way to address challenges faced on drugs and PPEs shortages.” said Mulepo.

Our Aim Foundation has also branch in the country with largest operation in the Mchinji District.
