Malawi Vice president Dr Saulos Chilima on Friday hosted the country’s women’s football champion, Tabitha Chawinga.
Speaking during the meeting, Chilima applauded Chawinga for putting Malawi on the map in as far as women’s football is concerned.
“Thank you, Tabitha Chawinga for the courtesy call this morning, you have made both Malawi and Africa proud, scoring 23 goals in 21 games in Series A Woman Football league to win the Golden Boot is no mean achievement.
“We are proud of you as a country, we will continue to celebrate and encourage you for your brand to continue growing and excelling,” said Chilima
In her comment after the meeting, Chawinga who was escorted by some officials from Football Association of Malawi (FAM) expressed gratitude for being given a chance to interact with the VP.
“I am happy that I was here with the Vice President of Malawi, today has been the first time in my life to meet the Vice President and to me it was so beautiful,” she said.
In the course of the meeting Chawinga presented two jerseys to the Vice President Dr, Chilima as her gift.
