The African Export-Import bank (Afreximbank) has paid for President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s tour of duty to Accra in Ghana, State House Press Officer Anthony Kasunda has disclosed.
“The trip has been paid for. The bank chartered a plane and it has also paid for his accommodation,” said Kasunda in an interview with MBC.
The bank’s four day annual meeting at Accra International Conference Centre which begins today the 18th June will also mark its 30th anniversary.
The bank’s President Benedict Oramah has since paid a courtesy call on President Chakwera.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chakwera has disclosed that he will use the meeting to safeguard Malawi’s trade interests and to promote the country’s economy as a viable investment destination.
The Pan African multilateral financial institution, which is headquartered in Cairo – Egypt, has a long history of development financing with Malawi.
