MCP PAINTS ZOMBA RED, Chimwendo says unity, peace and harmony are prerequisite for socioeconomic development

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) National Youth Director ‘double engine’ Richard Chimwendo Banda says in MCP they believe that “national interests are above everything”, therefore President Dr Lazarus Chakwera will not stop at preaching peace, unity and harmony as critical ingredients for development.

Chimwendo was speaking at development rally today at Naisi Ground in Zomba Malosa Constituency.

He told the huge gathering that the issue surrounding former president Dr Bakili Muluzi has been a political issue and not legal issue because there was no evidence of wrong doing against him hence president Chakwera and his government sought of discontinuing the case because Muluzi is a an oasis of democracy and good governance in this country.

In his remarks, Chimwendo said when the country is united, it means development will mushroom in this country.

“We are lucky because our forefathers taught us that unity is the foundation of prosperity. We have a beautiful country and a proud history to cherish. We know our beginnings. We are a great people that has a history that has traversed many decades. Our unity can be an example to the to that African Continent because it vanquished our enemies; protected our sovereignty and brought us to this day becoming an example for other people struggling for their democracy.

“Our identity is built in such a way that it is inseparable; it is threaded in a manner that cannot be untangled. It is integrated out of love and this must never be taken for granted by any politician who puts their agendas “supreme” over development,” said Chimwendo Banda who was the Guest of Honour at the rally.

Chimwendo who is also known as bulldozer for his charisma acknowledged that Malawians are going through painful times but pledged that President Chakwera has put strategies such as youth loans, Mtukula pakhomo among others that will help to transform the lives of many Malawians.

Among those in who attended the rally were MCP Regional Chairman for Eastern Region Foster Ntandama ,MCP Second Deputy Secretary General Gerald Kazembe, Steve Baba M Kamsiyamo MP, MCP Director of Youth for Eastern Region Hon Isaac Ramzy Khan and People’s party (PP) Vice President, Lawrence Bisika
