…30 contestants in ‘elimination’ stage
First Capital Bank (FCB) and The Times Group said they are excited with the progress registered in the on-gong ‘Malawi Has Talent’ Season 1 competition.
The televised reality show is being led by The Times Group through Times Television in partnership with the First Capital Bank (FCB) which pumped in MK 40 million.
FCB Head of Marketing Twikale Chirwa and The Times Group Sales Manager Alfred Kanjere expressed the excitement on Wednesday at The Times Group Head office in Blantyre.
Chirwa and his counterpart Kanjere were speaking during the unveiling ceremony of top 30 contestants of the ‘Malawi Has Talent’ Season 1 competition.
Chirwa said: “At FCB believe comes first; and we believe that Malawi has got talent as such we partnered with The Times Group to unearth talent for consumption.
“We want to expose the 60 percent of the Malawi population, which is the youth, to commercially viable initiatives using their talent.”
On his part, Kanjere said Malawi Has Talent competition will help to expose young stars to the international markets.
“We believe this is a platform where people can develop their talents and cash in. As Malawi, we want to reach a stage where we can export talent,” said Kanjere
The 30 contestants who have progressed to the ‘elimination stage’ scheduled for next month have been drawn from those who were successful in auditions held in Blantyre and Lilongwe.
Malawi Has Talent’ Judges namely Jai Banda, Zilanie Gondwe and Q Malewezi were entrusted to come up with top 30 lists.
