Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC president Thomson Mpinganjira has hired an additional 20 police officers to beef up the team’s security in today’s TNM Super League encounter against arch-rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

According to Nation Online, this follows recent incidents at Wanderers matches against Extreme FC and Dedza Dynamos where players were held hostage and verbally assaulted by some Nomads fans.

“I have personally hired and paid for 20 policemen to beef up security and protect our players and technical team,” said Mpinganjira as quoted by Nation Online

FCB Nyasa Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC are going into the match at the back of draws in last outings.

Wanderers were held 1 all against Dedza last weekend while Bullets saw out a goalless draw in Lilongwe against Kamuzu Barracks.

The Nomads lie third with 18 points, three points behind Bullets and six shy of leaders Silver Strikers.

In other matches, Silver face fourth placed Chitipa United at Bingu National Stadium. In Mzuzu, Moyale who lie seventh with 13 points are at home against bottom placed rookies Extreme FC.

At Balaka, Red Lions will look to earn three points to escape the danger zone when they play host to Karonga United. The Reds are fifteenth with 8 points while Karonga have 11 points on position twelve.
