Blantyre, July 1: President Lazarus Chakwera on Saturday presented a gift of K1 million to Vice President Saulos Chilima’s sister on her wedding day.
Tionge Chilima got married to Erasmus Phiri at Living Waters Church in Chigumula and later held their wedding reception at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre.
Making an announcement during the event, Director of ceremony at the wedding Timpunza Mwansambo said the President has also donated a new fridge to the new couple.
Minister of health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda who was accompanied by Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Jean Sendeza presented the gifts to the couple on behalf of the president during the reception.
Chilima and several cabinet ministers including Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Michael Usi Change, Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Sidik Mia and Minister of Labour Agnes Nyalonje, were notable guests at the wedding.
