On Sunday, July 2, 2023, Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa attended a fundraising event at Nsanje Catholic Church under the Laity Council of the Diocese of Chikwawa in Nsanje district.
Nankhumwa was invited as Guest of Honour. He made a donation of K1 million towards the Church’s initiative.
Nankhumwa expressed gratitude to Bishop Peter Musikuwa of the Chikwawa Diocese and the entire Catholic faithful in the Diocese for inviting him out of millions of Malawians in this country.
Nankhumwa, who also serves as the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the Southern Region and Member of Parliament (MP) for Mulanje Central, recognized the pivotal role that the Catholic Church in the social and economic development of the country, especially in the education and health sectors.
Bishop Musikuwa acknowledged Honourable Dr. Nankhumwa’s humility, especially for accepting the Church’s invitation to attend the “very important event”.
Some of the notable faces who graced the occasion includes MP for Nsanje West, Eurita Mtiza, Gladys Ganda, MP for Nsanje Lalanje, DPP Regional official Kondwani Chiutsi, Senior Chief Chimombo, T/A Ngabu, Officer-in-Charge of Nsanje Police Station, Joseph Mutupa, DPP District Governor and Constituency Governors.
