Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Thursday morning visited Parliament of Malawi where she had an audience with the Speaker of Parliament, Catherine Gotani Hara.
The Tanzanian leader Suluhu Hassan later planted a soldier tree at parliament premises.
She also laid a wreath at Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda’s mausoleum in respect for the Father and Founder of the nation.
Dr. Banda led Malawians in the first-ever heroic independence celebration on July 6th, 1964.
The Tanzanian President was accompanied by Vice President Saulos Chilima, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Madalitso Kazombo, and other senior government officials.
This year’s Day celebrations is being held at Bingu National Stadium under the theme: “Celebrating Renewed Unity and Patriotism,”
