The Super League of Malawi has rejected a request by Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Silver Strikers for their tnm super league match slated for this Thursday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre to be shifted.
The two sides had not been in action lately due to their respective contribution of players to the Malawi national football team at Cosafa Cup.
The teams then wrote Sulom for the match to be shifted as their players would not have had enough rest among other things.
But, Sulom through a statement signed by General Secretary, Williams Banda said the request does not hold enough water and that the match will have to proceed.
‘’Kindly note that it is illegal for teams in any competition to conspire and discuss a league match without the knowledge of Sulom. Such conduct has raised suspicions of match fixing.
“In this regard, SULOM has commenced match fixing investigations and appropriate remedial actions shall be taken against any team or official who shall be found on the wrong side of the law,’’ reads the statement.
