Chilima attends St Patrick’s Parish golf tournament

St Patrick’s Parish of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe of the Roman Catholic Church has organised a Golf Tournament to raise funds for the renovation and extension of the Church in area 18.

The whole project is expected to cost K900 million and the parish has managed to raise K450 million.

“We want to extend and modernise our Church, so we are relying on donations and we are confident that we will manage,” said Dr Mathews Mtumbuka, First Vice Chair of the Parish Council.

Through the golf tournament, which has attracted over 100 golfers, the Parish intends to raise K15 million.

Vice President, Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima, a parishioner of the Church and an ardent golfer, is also taking part in the tournament.

According to Dr Mtumbuka, the project is relying mostly on the generous benefaction of the parishioners, and this means that people understand the need to work towards Church development, than in the past when Christians would always look for foreign support to undertake such projects.

St Patrick’s Parish has 1500 Christians from Areas 18,10, 12, 14, 15, 43, and Kauma among other places.
