Leader of Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa has cautioned government that it cannot run an economy with propaganda because the economy reflects the true circumstances of its people even in the midst of attempts to manipulate perceptions.
Nankhumwa was speaking during the end of 3rd meeting in the 50th session of parliament before adjournment sine die on Friday in Lilongwe.
He pointed out that three years of President Lazarus Chakwera foreign trips have yielded nothing, and it is unjustifiable as it used to say, “Kukatitengera Zabwino.”.
“Here we are with eggshells all over our collective faces, with an over 60 percent devaluation of the Malawi Kwacha and nothing substantial to show for it.” lamented Nankhumwa
The Leader of Opposition purportedly said high inflation, high unemployment, burgeoning domestic debt, high interest rates, increased taxes, food shortages, lack of investment, and a shambolic Agriculture Input Program (AIP) are now the order of the day.

Meanwhile, in his closing remarks Leader of the House in Parliament Richard Chimwendo Banda listed down some of the projects the Tonse Government is currently implementing, saying they put the most important things first to Malawians rather than politicking.
Chimwendo Banda explained that the country has experienced adequate electrification as blackouts is an old song which puts them in a right place running the affairs of the country.
“We have tremendously increased social cash transfer beneficiaries as well as increasing salary for civil servants to cushion them from the 44 percent devaluation.” Said Chimwendo Banda.
He also backed up his remarks with listing some road infrastructure and road developments being implemented across the country.
