Richard Chimwendo Banda, a seasoned politician and educator, is poised to take on the Secretary General role in the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Chimwendo Banda boasts an impressive background, having served as the Minister of Local Government, Unity, and Culture since January 2022.
He is also the current National Youth Director for the ruling MCP and a Member of Parliament for Dowa East Constituency.
He has a strong educational foundation, having attended Mwanza Secondary School and holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies.
He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration.
