“Constitution does not put Vice President any where near appointments of Ministers”

BY LYSON SIBANDE

p1

Chapter 8 of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi composes the Executive arm of government where section (94)(1) provides that the President shall have the power to appoint Ministers and Deputy Ministers and also to fill vacancies in the Cabinet.

Section 95(2) provides that the president shall have the power to remove Ministers and Deputy Ministers from their positions and Section 97 says that all Ministers are responsible to the President.

The Constitution does not put the Vice President any where near appointments of Ministers and their deputies. The president appoints and fires Ministers at will and they are responsible to him.

While the President is at liberty to consult the vice president or any person about appointments or dismissals of Ministers, he cannot be held at ransom by any of them and can therefore not give excuse of his failure to execute his constitutional duties because of anyone.

  1. it seems this guy doesn’t know what to do. this office looks too big for him and it offers him a jig saw puzzle that keeps on tormenting him like hell. any person who is completely blank on his/her assignment gives lame excuses that don’t make sense at all. he always uses chilima who also seems not well conversant with the task thrown to him within a blink of an eye. they are acting like a new associate lecture who is tormented by the new task of teaching the brilliant class. tormented by stress and anxiety he delivers in a disorderly manner to the point of confusing everyone. i thought we hired an x-premier for administrative consultations? should we say things were done before consulting him or the dual are afraid of messing up with their day after firing the iddle but more aggressive ministers who can give them tough time after laid off? are they sickened with kaliati’s and masangwi’s saga who managed to bring confusion in dpp after chopped off? even if those guys were there, malawi is the game of regions dictated by the roman and ccap churches who have no interest in by-elections but able to gather voter momentum in presidential polls. have you ever asked yourself a question why mcp won by-elctions in a 5:1 humiliation defeat to dpp in 2017 and yet in 2019 apm won in the same constituencies? have you ever asked yourself why dpp despite all the massive development campaign throughout the country central and northern region didn’t vote for it? have you ever asked why mcp and utm despite their violent and destructive demos won the hearts of the centre and the north? chizuzu and political commentators must stop cheating people that really the vote was stollen in 2019 and dpp must fix the leadership rungle respectively. the truth is the church is the deadly political weapon that can twist the political tonado.
