The Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Chirwa has granted bail to former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor Dalitso Kabambe and co-accused persons who are facing abuse of office charges.
Kabambe, Henry Mathanga second accused person, Rodrick Wiyo third accused person and Leah Donga fourth accused person have been asked to pay MK5 million bail bond plus produce two surities.
The accused persons were arrested following a forensic audit report into alleged fraudulent local and foreign payments made by RBM between January 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020.
The truth is that this guy poses a threat to re-election of a certain bully and another power hungry guy who doesn’t wait at anything but do whatever it takes to rise through dubious means. Is it a crime to have government statutories perform corporate social responsibilities in time of great need when donor funds were inevitable but they were rocked too in battling out the ermerging monster of nCov? All what APM and this guy were doing was to promote the spirit of self reliance rather than keeping on downing on our knees begging shamelessly. From my understanding it wasn’t RBM alone which was begged to rise and contribute to that noble fight to cushion the effect of the deadly virus on its impact on global economy. The truth is that tonse wants dpp to remove this guy from the aspiration list or if he happens to win at the convention will have many things to attend to in simple terms they want to keep him busy. Is this what we call democracy? The systematic down playing of each other in the game of politics is pretty buffling and discouraging. This makes democracy to look terrible and useless. Less popular guys beat the system through torture, looting, killing, bringing of fear, etc to stiffle competition. If thats the case, to hell with democracy.
