State House Director of Communications, Sean Kampondeni, says President Lazarus Chakwera understands the pain that the 22 percent fuel price hike has on Malawians.
Kampondeni was speaking during the State House Briefing in Lilongwe on Monday morning.
He said President Chakwera understands that accommodating such a huge increase is a painful experience.
According to Kampondeni, Chakwera understands that the movement in fuel price affects commodity prices.
According to Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) Petrol is now at MK1,150 per litre from MK899.20, Diesel is now at K1,120 per litre from K898.00 and paraffin is K833 per litre from MK719.60.
