High court judge Kenyatta Nyirenda has declined to grant the office of the ombudsman an order to discharge an injunction by Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (Mera) Chief Executive Officer Henry Kachaje obtained against it.
The office of the ombudsman asked the court to discharge permission to commerce judicial review and interim reliefs by Kachaje against the office of the ombudsman to carry out an inquiry on his hiring as Mera’s Chief Executive officer.
Among others Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda rules that, the argument by the office of the Ombudsman that Kachaje’s interim relief were wrongly granted, lacks merit.
The motivational speaker Kachaje obtained a court injunction restrained the Ombudsman from dismissing him as Mera CEO, after a report revealed that he was illegally recruited by Mera Board.
Among others, the suspended determination stated that investigations carried by the Ombudsman found that Kachaje had no Master’s Degree, a minimum requirement for the post, at the time of the application for the job.
This other day someone was saying the crooked judiciary deliberately quashed Chisale’s stolen certificate case so that that could be a comparative ploy in order to shield Kachaje’s crookedness. We are yet to witness another milestone in our justice system, as usual.
Malawians are not fools to let go a kindergarten sort of muddling of the waters to cheat the citizenry and suit their egocentric motives. Kachaje and the board miscalculated their move. One thing they need to bear in mind is that they are dealing with our taxes carelessly. If their boy is unqualified nothing is going to change that no matter how long it takes to apply their feet dragging tactics.
Malawi has well qualified people who can’t hold that office just because the only crime they committed is originating from a region that the current leadership doesn’t come from. But it is said that “What goes around, comes around”. It is just a matter of time before the Chickens come home to roost. Remember, there were individuals who once occupied those same seats previously that everything they said was HOLY. But today they are no longer there and the manner they were taken down was very shameful. Now, who are they for them not to take the same route, if not even worse? Seeds they have sown, and very soon they are going to harvest. The question remains, “Is the harvest going to be worth it and indeed equivalent to all the machinations involved?” Only time will tell!!
