First Couple Asks Malawians to Have Faith in God

Malawi President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and the First Lady Madame Gertrude Mutharika have urged Malawians to keep the faith that God has power to heal the world despite coronavirus drastically changing our traditional ways of celebrating Easter.

This is contained in a statement released by the State house press office as the first couple joins Malawi and the world at large in celebrating Easter.

The statement says this year’s Easter Season comes at a defining moment in history, as the world grapples with the novel Coronavirus which has affected millions of souls globally. They have since urged Malawians to keep the faith in the power of God.

The President and the First Lady say they believe that this is the time to renew our hope that coronavirus will be conquered through this season when Jesus Christ conquered death.

The First Couple therefore says, as the world commemorates the trials and tribulations of Jesus Christ, his death on the Cross and then his triumph over evil through the Resurrection, Malawians should also lift their hands to God in prayer with hope that we will triumph over this disease.

The President and the First Lady have since called upon all Malawians to adopt the spirit of sacrifice shown by Jesus Christ and do all they can to protect themselves and one another from the disease.

President Mutharika and Madame Mutharika have expressed the hope that Malawians will use this occasion to strengthen their spiritual lives at the time the country is being tested by coronavirus.

In conclusion, the President and the First Lady call upon religious leaders in the country to use this occasion to preach peace, love and unity among all Malawians at this time of coronavirus and beyond.
