Six Arrested Over Blood Suckers Saga

Kasungu, May 4, Mana: Six people are in police custody in Kasungu in connection to the murder of two unknown men.

The two were murdered by a mob on the night of March 22, 2020 for being suspected to be blood suckers.

According to Kasungu Police Public Relations Officer, Harry Namwaza, the six have been arrested after Criminal Investigation Department (CID) police officers successfully gathered intelligence connecting them to issue.

Namwaza said the killings of the two unidentified men happened when they were passing Mkanda area going to Chisinga in order to look for piece works.

“Upon reaching Mkanda Village, they were killed by a mob alleging that they were blood suckers,” said Namwaza.

The six are identified as Jacob Kamanga, 38, of Villa Chisoso Village, Geisha Mtonga, 28, of Luziwa Village,  Raphael Zimba, 25, of Luziwa Village, Staliko Chirwa, 58, of Kapinya Village, Ephraim Mtonga, 24, of Villa  Luwiza Village,  Moffart Msofi, 51 of Kachipwa Village, all under Traditional Authority (TA) Kaluluma in the district.

They have been charged with murder and will appear in court soon. More arrests are likely to follow as police investigations are still in progress.

Several people have been attacked in the district for being suspected blood suckers.
