Yes, no party dies because one has left, and surely no party wins through subtraction system. The moment you systemize subtraction system is the very moment you afordize perhaps udfize your party.
Once upon a time, aford had 38 MPs, today, 1 MP. UDF had 90 MPs, today less than 20 MPs. DPP had 96 MPs, today less than with 30 MPs. In politics, you must retain your number, secondly die to increase the number. Losing numbers and increasing numbers is somehow 2 steps forward and 2 steps backwards.
Even in companies, those with high labour turn over present a negative outlook, an anomaly that calls for rectification. And skill retention, and development is key.
The art to maintain people is a rare skill most leaders in this era are to master. Except MCP where mostly supporters rarely use their minds in pursuit of the party direction, parties formed in the democratic era need to work extra harder to maintain and grow their numbers where their followers follow out of conviction.
