The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has approved the candidature of President Professor Peter Mutharika and his runningmate Atupele Muluzi for the forth coming fresh presidential polls.
MEC’s Chairperson, Justice Dr. Jane Ansah made the announcement on Wednesday during National Elections Consultative Forum in currently underway Mangochi.
According to Ansah, the commission has also approved Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidate Lazarus Chakwera and his runningmate Saulos Chilima.
Peter Kuwani of Mbakuwaku Movement for Development (MMD) will also take part in the forth coming elections.
Malawi will hold fresh Presidential elections on 2 July 2020, thus according to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) calendar.
