Thousands attend Chimwendo, Mkaka rally in Mangochi…declare Chakwera to win in 2025 with landslide

Chimwendo addressing the red sea

National Youth Director for the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Richard Chimwendo Banda says opposition parties in Malawi must forget of forming government in 2025 as they are currently in “boxing ring” fighting for the leadership of the party while Malawians are expecting a constructive opposition to offer oversight role in the country.

Chimwendo also reminded the people of Mangochi that DPP and UDF are family parties hence their leaders don’t want to leave the stage unlike MCP which is the democratic institution.

Chimwendo was speaking at a rally on Sunday, August 21,2023 at Saint Augustine 2 Primary School ground in Mangochi District. He was joined by the party’s Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka and others.

Mammoth crowd

“Whether someone dreams or not, DPP and UDF will never come back from the grave to lead this country in the near future because these parties are run by selfish and undemocratic leaders. Instead of providing solutions to the prevailing economic hardships Malawians are going through due to cyclones and droughts, among others, they are busy fighting. It is therefore, unheard to bring ‘dead legs’ and expect to win an election in 2025 against a party like MCP which is a national party. If they cannot resolve their in- house problems in a peaceful manner, how do expect them to take care of your socioeconomic problems?” Chimwendo asked.

ON DEVELOPMENT

In his remarks, Chimwendo said that MCP believes that the mandate Malawians gave Chakwera is for delivering clean water, ending blackouts, constructing a network of beautiful roads and bridges, clinics, good schools and all amenities that enable the people to live in decent human settlements, in both urban and rural areas.

“The mandate is also a license for Chakwera to continue with his ambitious infrastructure build programme, and ensure the provision of better roads, universities and colleges, hospitals, dams, railway lines and and electricity that boost economic and social development

“Key and central to this infrastructure programme is skills development and the economic empowerment and job creation of the youth through loans,” said Chimwendo Banda who is also Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture.

He also promised that on Wednesday this week government will flood ADMARC depots with maize for people to buy and warned any politician to never come close and interfere with the distribution of maize.

Mkaka addressing the media after the rally

But he was quick to admit that there are challenges that Malawians are facing but stressed that Chakwera is determined to do more as he is building the new Malawi as outlined in their manifesto.

Taking his turn, Mkaka said government will continue with the AIP subsidy that is intended for the poor to have enough food at household levels.

Mkaka also urged the chiefs to be work closely with government officials so that the fertilizer reach the intended beneficiaries.

The rally was graced by various top MCP gurus including Second Deputy Secretary General Gerald Kazembe, National Campaign Director who is also Minister of Information Moses Kumkuyu, former DPP Member of Parliament for Zomba Central, Patricia Nangozo Kainja among others.
