Mighty Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) supporters have been commended for maintaining peace during and after presidential elections case verdict despite being provoked by opposition political parties.
DPP’s Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey made the commendation in a statement dated 4 February 2020 a day after the Constitution Court in Lilongwe nullified May 21 Presidential elections.
“DPP wishes to thank its supporters in particular and all Malawians alike for the peace and calm demonstrated before, during and after the conclusion of presidential elections case. This is a clear manifestation of DPP ideology built on the three pillars: Patriotism, Integrity and Hard work.
“As the largest party in the land, we believe in the rule of law, peace and order as fundamental pillars of the democratic society,” said Jeffrey while appealing to Malawians to maintain the current status.
Jeffrey also reiterated President Peter Mutharika’s administration mission of continuing to develop the country.
Speaking in Mangochi on Tuesday, DPP’s Director of Elections DR. Ben Phiri assured DPP supporters of landslide victory in the forth coming presidential election saying the party has never lost an election.
